LATEST NEWS.... THANKS TO THE GENEROUSITY OF DAVE, K3HSK WHO HELPED MAKE THIS NODE POSSIBLE. DUE TO
A CHANGE IN MY SCHEDULE, THIS ECHOLINK NODE WILL BE AVAIBLE FROM 15:00Z TO 23:00Z DAILY. I WILL TRY TO
KEEP IT RUNNING 24 HRS/DAY ON THE WEEKENDS
THROUGH THE EFFORTS OF BARRY, N2EUS I NOW HAVE THE ULI BOARD AND AM IN THE PROCESS OF WIRING THE CABLES
TO PUT THE BOARD AND IT'S CONTROL FEATURES INTO OPERATION. THIS MEANS LONGER OPERATING TIMES FOR THE SYSTEM
BETWEEN SHUTDOWNS.

REQUIRES A PERSON WHEN AVAIBLE TO MONITOR THE 147.360 REPEATER. ADDITIONAL DETAILS WILL BE GIVEN TO ANYONE

THE ULI INTERFACE HAS BEEN INSTALLED AND THE INITIAL TESTING COMPLETED. EARLY RESULTS ARE VERY
SATISFACTORY. A SECOND LINK RADIO WAS DONATED BY DAVE, KC2JZK AND WILL BE
INSTALLED TO ALLOW CONTROL OPERATORS TO HAVE A DISCRETE BACKUP FREQUENCY TO CONTROL

ON 05/31/06 WE SUFFERED A LIGHTNING STRIKE HERE AT THE HOUSE. ONE OF THE SEVERAL VICTIMS WAS
THE COMPUTER RUNNING THE ECHOLINK PROGRAM. UNTIL I CAN REPLACE/REPAIR THIS COMPUTER ECHOLINK
WILL NOT BE AVAIBLE.PROJECTED DOWN TIME 2 TO 3 WEEKS

AS OF 06/15/06 WE HAVE THE SYSTEM BACK UP AND RUNNING.I WAS ABLE TO WITH THE HELP OF SOME SPARE
COMPONENTS COAX THE OLD COMPUTER BACK TO LIFE. WE HAVE PURCHASED A NEW COMPUTER AND AS TIME PERMITS ARE
CONFIGURING IT TO REPLACE THE OLD COMPUTER.

AS OF 08/25/07 THE ECHOLINK SYSTEM HAS BEEN MOVED TO A NEW LOCATION AND AFTER SOME INITIAL
COMPUTER HARDWARE PROBLEMS THE SYSTEM IS UP AND RUNNING AND APPEARS VERY STABLE. IT IS NOW OPERATIONAL FROM
7:30am TO 10:00pm LOCAL, DAILY .
PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING
YOU MUST IDENTIFY WITH YOUR STATION CALLSIGN BEFORE TRANSMITTING ANY DTMF TONES - THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND NECCESSARY
TO COMPLY WITH FCC PART 97 RULES.

THAT THERE ARE 4 DIFFERENT TYPE OF CONNECTIONS THAT YOU CAN MAKE:
REPEATER - SELF EXPLANATORY
LINK - USUALLY A SIMPLEX FREQUENCY
USER - AN INDIVIDUAL AVAIBLE FOR A QSO
CONFERENCE - A TYPE OF CHAT ROOM WHERE HAMS WITH SIMILIAR INTERESTS GATHER.
THE FOLLOWING TONES ARE CURRENTLY AVAIABLE
TO ALL USERS WANTING TO CONNECT TO ECHOLINK THROUGH THE REPEATER WITHOUT THE USE OF A COMPUTER.

**NOTE THAT A NODE NUMBER IS A UNIQUE NUMBER ASSIGNED TO EACH ECHOLINK STATION. THIS NUMBER CAN BE FOUND
ON LINE ADJACENT TO THE STATION CALL SIGN IN THE ECHOLINK SOFTWARE INDEX.
AS WE GATHER ADDITIONAL OPERATING EXPIERENCE THE SYSTEM COMMANDS MAY CHANGE - BE SURE TO CHECK BACK HERE ONCE
IN A WHILE FOR THE MOST CURRENT INFORMTION.
SENDING DTMF TONES
SENDING THE TONES TO QUICKLY (QUICK SHORT TONES)
COULD CAUSE THE CONTROLLER TO MISS A TONE.
SENDING THE TONES TOO SLOWLY (LONG SLOW TONES)
COULD CAUSE THE CONTROLLER TO INTERPET A SINGLE
TONE AS TWO TONES. SENDING THE TONES AT THE RATE
YOU WOULD USE ON A TOUCH TONE PHONE DIALER
SHOULD WORK WELL. IF YOUR SURE THE REPEATER
IS ACCEPTING YOUR TONES TRY ALTERING THE LENGTH
AND SPACING OF THE TONES.

AFTER SENDING THE DTMF TONES LISTEN FOR A "CONNECTING TO" RESPONSE FROM THE LOCAL REPEATER. HAVE A PENCIL AND PAPER
HANDY TO JOT DOWN THE CALL SIGN OR NAME OF THE CONNECTION (NODE).
ONCE YOU HEAR THE "CONNECTED" STATEMENT, LISTEN TO BE SURE THE FREQUENCY IS NOT IN USE AND THEN CALL
"CQ" BE SURE TO USE THE STATEMENT THAT YOU ARE CONNECTED VIA ECHOLINK AT SOME TIME DURING YOUR CQ.
WHEN YOUR FINISHED WITH THE FREQUENCY PLEASE ANNOUNCE THAT YOUR ARE "DROPPING THE LINK" BEFORE
DISCONNECTING.
YOU CAN FIND INTERESTING NODE NUMBERS BY DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING ECHOLINK ONTO YOUR COMPUTER. AFTER LAUNCHING
THE SOFTWARE A LIST OF APPROXIMATELY 3500 STATIONS ALONG WITH THERE RESPECTIVE NODE NUMBERS WILL APPEAR. MAKE A LIST
OF NODES AND CARRY
IT ALONG WITH YOU IN YOUR TRAVELS.
